Spain-Cyprus, Euro 2024 qualifiers: tv, odds,

by Sabrina

Spain-Cyprus is a match on the sixth day of Group A of Euro 2024 qualifiers and is played Tuesday at 8:45 p.m.: predictions.

The Nations League victory seems to have regenerated Spain. La Roja started off on the right foot in the qualifiers as well, taking Georgia by storm in Kvaratskhelia last Saturday (1-7) and taking back second place in Group A behind Scotland, now almost certain to have a Euro 2024 pass in their pocket.

Louis de la Fuente’s selection, on the other hand, is still far from mathematical qualification: the pitfalls are called Norway and Georgia, who will take points off each other in this round but always ready to take advantage of another misstep by Spain along the lines of the one that occurred on Scottish soil in March. The success in a goleada in Tbilisi, however, allows the Iberians to remain masters of their own destiny: despite one match less, Morata and his teammates have three points more than the Norway-Georgia duo, and with a win against bottom-of-the-table Cyprus, the gap could widen. In Granada’s “de los Carmenes” stadium, de la Fuente will ask his teammates for another convincing and flawless performance. Asensio and Dani Olmo will not be in the match: injured, the two have already left the national team’s training camp, making way for Ferran Torres and Yeremi Pino.

In the attacking trident, on either side of Morata (a hat-trick in Georgia for the former Juve man), the Spanish coach will field the ’02 class Nico Williams but above all the little jewel Lamine Lamal, who at only 16 years old on Saturday became the youngest footballer to score in any European national team and in any kind of national game in the last 117 years.

The Prediction

Cyprus is the only selection still with zero points in this grouping and is fresh from a narrow home defeat against Scotland (0-3). It is difficult for the trend to change against an inspired Spain, which is coming from the goleada handed to Georgia: therefore, the conditions seem to be in place for another wide victory for the Roja, which is likely to score 3 to 6 goals.

The probable lineups of Spain-Cyprus

  • Spain (4-3-3): Unai Simon; Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Baldé; Merino, Rodri, Gavi; Yamal, Morata, N. Williams.
  • CIPRO (3-5-2): Mall; Karo, Laifis, Roberge; Antoniou, Kyriakou, Ioannou, Charalampous, Correia; Kastanos, Pittas.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 3-0
