And while West Ham are coming to terms with an attack that is struggling to break through, Aston Villa have been less than solid in the non-possession phase: Steven Gerrard’s men have never held a lead and after their success against Everton they suffered their second defeat of the season at home to Crsytal Palace. Unreliable, finally, was the very clear 4-1 victory in the League Cup second round with Bolton.
