Atalanta-Monza, Serie A: streaming, likely lineups, predictions

by Mike

Atalanta-Monza is a match in the third day of Serie A and is played Saturday at 8:45 p.m.: lineups, predictions, TV and streaming.

Atalanta makes its season debut at Gewiss Stadium, which underwent another makeover operation in the summer with the demolition of the old south curve.

The Dea has so far played only on the road, scraping together three points in two games. Its championship had started with the beautiful victory (0-2) in Reggio Emilia with Sassuolo – former Milan player De Ketelaere, a mystery object in the Rossoneri, was also in goal – but a week ago the Nerazzurri ran into their first knockout, coming out with a surprise defeat from the match in Frosinone (2-1). It was a clear step backward for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team, which suffered exceedingly in the first half from the unprejudiced play of the Ciociari, going down by two goals and waking up when it was too late. The coach at the end of the match gave an explanation for the defeat by saying that his team suffered too much from opponents who played from the first minute at a high pace, and it was no coincidence that even in Emilia, seven days earlier, Atalanta came out on top in the distance. In the last days of the market, meanwhile, the Bergamasks said goodbye to striker Zapata, one of the pillars of the last few seasons, who was sold to Torino.

Maximum confidence in Gianluca Scamacca, therefore, who will start as a starter in the Lombardy derby with Monza. Raffaele Palladino, who came out of the Gasperini “school,” on the other hand a center forward has just welcomed him: he is Colombo (Milan school) last year among the best at Lecce. The Brianzoli are fresh from the victory against Empoli, beaten 2-0 in their first home outing, a success that allowed them to turn the page after the defeat to Inter.

Atalanta-Monza: latest lineup news

Deceased Zapata and Soppy (both to Torino), Gasperini is expected to deploy both Scamacca and De Ketelaere in attack, with Lookman ready to help from the bench. At the back, however, Toloi, who has recovered from injury, could see himself again. On the outside lanes, room for Zappacosta and Ruggeri, while Touré, Hateboer and Palomino are in the infirmary.

Colpani

Colpani

Colombo has been a new Monza player for a few hours but is unlikely to start. Palladino’s offensive terminal will still be Mota, supported by Colpani and Pessina. Bench for Caprari, on the left more Kyriakopoulos than Birindelli. In the middle chance for Machin, who will pair with former Inter player Gagliardini.

The prediction

Two teams coming off a good season but struggling to find certainty so far. Looking at the record, Monza has not beaten its cousins since back in ’99 and has never done so in Serie A, as last year Atalanta got the better of both the first leg and the return leg. Gasperini’s lineup will want to turn the page immediately after the unexpected defeat in Frosinone and one can bet on Dea winning but it is not a foregone match. The feeling, then, is that at least three goals in total will be seen.

The probable lineups of Atalanta-Monza

  • ATALANTA (3-4-1-2): Musso; Toloi, Scalvini, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, de Roon, Ederson, Ruggeri; Koopmeiners; De Ketelaere, Scamacca.
  • MONZA (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Carboni, Pablo Marì, Caldirola; Ciurria, Machin, Gagliardini, Kyriakopoulos; Colpani, Pessina; Mota.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
