Chelsea-Luton Town, Premier League: likely lineups, predictions.

by Mark

Chelsea-Luton Town is a match valid for the third day of the Premier League and is played on Friday at 9 pm: TV, lineups, predictions.

Chelsea continue to invest big money in the market – it would appear that Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun is in the home straight – but the results continue to fall short. After the ill-fated debut with Liverpool (1-1) in which the Blues would have objectively deserved more, the first defeat of the season has arrived, which leaves Mauricio Pochettino’s Londoners in the lower reaches of the standings, with only one point won in two days.

As in the challenge with the Reds, total control of the game (over 70% of ball possession) was not enough in the derby with West Ham. Dribbling, however, too much for its own sake. Paradoxically, it was the Hammers who were more dangerous, beating their cousins 3-1 despite being outnumbered in the last quarter of an hour because of Aguerd’s expulsion. Weighed in the economy of the match, however, was the mistake from the penalty spot by Enzo Fernandez, who could have put Chelsea ahead late in the first half. Pochettino was regretful about the result but not about the quality of the performance and said he was convinced that, continuing at this pace, his team can only grow and move up the table. The first three points, barring any cataclysms, should come in the home match with newly promoted Luton, which did not take the field last Saturday because of the work that is affecting its stadium, which is not yet up to standard.

Traumatic start for newly promoted Luton

The Hatters on their debut were pummeled by De Zerbi’s Brighton: a debut that couldn’t have been more traumatic, considering that at Amex Stadium they cashed in an impressive four goals (4-1) despite a decent first half.

Waiting to recover from the challenge with Burnley and especially to understand if they can return to play in front of their own public from the next home match awaits them the prohibitive appointment – on paper – at Stamford Bridge. Luton has never faced Chelsea, with the exception of an FA Cup match, and arrives in London with the status of the designated victim.

The Prediction

Luton for now has not strengthened properly and against Brighton two weeks ago was concerned solely with not conceding goals. We hypothesize an even fairly clear victory by Chelsea, which should score between two and four goals.
