Cristiano Ronaldo really did it big and the images leave room for very little interpretation. A 170million distraction
In the past few days we have told you about how Cristiano Ronaldo has entered the Guinness World Record for being the highest paid player in the last year, data from April 2022 to March 2023. And this is already a sign of the money swirling around the Portuguese champion who, however, now really risks big.
CR7 is bound by a sponsorship contract with Nike, who give him millions and millions of euros every year to do what he does: that is, to take to the pitch with the American brand or to post an occasional social photo with a company shirt. Well (or maybe not), in the last friendly that Ronaldo played with the Al Nassr jersey against Celta Vigo, many noticed a detail that clashes with the sponsorship in place: In fact, Ronaldo would have worn shin guards under his socks that are from Adidas, the German company that has always competed with the other. Some images speak for themselves, like the one in the Tweet you can see below. And they really leave very little room for interpretation. It would appear to be just that. And the Mundo Deportivo has done the maths. Should Nike terminate his contract, Ronaldo would lose an avalanche of money.
Cristiano Ronaldo, risks 170million
Yes, the Spanish website has explained that if Nike were to take a stance, Cristiano would risk losing out on 170 million euros. A lot of money obviously deriving from the contract that binds the player to the sponsor. And this is certainly not unthinkable, if you really look at what has happened.
At the moment, however, there is no official communication from anyone, and it is impossible to think it could be different given the contract in place. In any case, this is an affair to be followed very closely in the coming weeks, because if a drastic decision were to be taken, Ronaldo could even appear in front of the Arab club to ask for a salary adjustment to make up for the damage he himself could have done. We joke, but anything can be.
During Al-Nassr’s pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo earlier this week, Cristiano Ronaldo wore Adidas shinpads.
