Sunday 16 July predictions: Brazil, Argentina, Norway and Sweden are played, but there are also friendly matches.
River Plate became champions of Argentina with two days to spare, beating Estudiantes 3-1 last night to win their 38th title. Never seriously in contention for Liga Profesional victory were their historic rivals Boca Juniors, only ninth in the standings. However, the Xeneizes are coming off three consecutive good results and should avoid defeat at Gimnasia y Esgrima.
In South America, all eyes are also on the 15th day of the Brasileirao, where one of the many derbies between São Paulo and Santos takes place. The Tricolor are in good form, unlike the Bianconeri, and should take home the three points. A potentially spectacular match is looming instead between Fluminense and Flamengo, another derby (in this case of Rio de Janeiro) that is very heartfelt. In Sweden’s top flight, Elfsborg are favourites against Gothenburg, while Bodo/Glimt will look to consolidate their lead in their home match against Haugesund in Norway.
Other match predictions
Benfica, who have recently re-embraced Angel Di Maria, are engaged in an interesting friendly with Basel: at least three goals in total are expected. There should also be no shortage of goals in Brann-Stromsgodset and Mjallby-Norrkoping.
