MLS, 13 matches of the most important stars and stripes football league are scheduled for the Italian night: news and predictions.
On the Italian night between Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July, Major League Soccer returns with no less than thirteen matches scheduled. Cincinnati continues to lead the overall standings, seven points ahead of the second-placed New England Revolution.
The postseason is now practically assured for the Ohio club: in a very interesting summit clash against New England, it will be interesting to see if the leader has digested the ugly defeat – only the second of the season – suffered a week ago with Wayne Rooney’s DC United, who with a heavy 3-0 interrupted Cincinnati’s positive streak that had lasted since last April. At home, however, Pat Noonan’s team has so far been a rollercoaster, winning 10 out of 10: a record that is destined to remain unblemished. Montreal, which has collected seven victories in eight games in its stadium, should also make the home factor count: New York City is warned. The performance of Inter Miami, Leo Messi’s next team, continues to be disastrous. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will not arrive before 21 July in Florida, where he will find his old coach from his Barcelona days, ‘Tata’ Martino, drafted in on the Pulce’s instructions.
For the Miami club, however, it is a black period: the consecutive defeats in the league have become seven and even Austin is likely to take points away from Fort Lauderdale. Insigne and Bernardeschi’s Toronto, coming off two losses in a row, are again in danger of missing out on the playoffs: the Canadians will struggle to hold off the excellent Real Salt Lake, undefeated in their last five matches and a prolific team.
The other match predictions
Sporting Kansas City have failed to win any of their last three matches, picking up just one point from nine. The Peter Vermes-coached line-up continues to disappoint expectations despite a respectable squad, built to at least make the playoffs.
Kansas City could, however, rediscover the joy of victory in their home match against the Vancouver Whitecaps, who, despite having a positive moment, have often left something to be desired on the road, winning only one match in eight. On the other hand, Nashville, the fifth-ranked team in the MLS in terms of home performances, is very strong at home: Tennessee wants to return to smile after two away defeats, and DC United, fresh from their resounding success against Cincinnati, will have to somehow take this into account. Finally, great balance is expected in Minnesota-Portland and San Jose Earthquakes-Los Angeles Galaxy, two matches that should give at least three goals in total. At least one on each side between Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls and Dallas and Los Angeles Fc.
