Bulgaria-Serbia, Euro 2024 qualifiers: TV, likely formations,

by Sabrina

Bulgaria-Serbia is a match on the fourth day of Euro 2024 qualifying Group G and is played on Tuesday at 20:45: predictions.

The news of the draw between Hungary and Montenegro was well received by Serbia, who retained the top spot in Group G and now have the opportunity to stretch their lead if they win against the bottom of the group, Bulgaria.

Vlahovic and his teammates were ‘rested’ last weekend, so to speak, as they were engaged in a friendly against Jordan, which ended in a pyrotechnic 3-2 in favour of the selection led by Dragan ‘Pixi’ Stojkovic. The White Eagles’ coach sent out an experimental line-up, with very few starters, which only avoided defeat thanks to a brace from Los Angeles Galaxy forward Dejan Joveljic, scored in the last 10 minutes of the game. Serbia arrives at the Razgrad fixture fresh off four consecutive victories, achieved between official matches and friendlies. In the qualifiers they took home two comfortable victories against Lithuania and Montenegro, both beaten by two goals and keeping their goals unbeaten, which allowed them to put qualification on the line.

Bulgaria in freefall

Serbia have never lost in 2023. The last defeat was at the World Cup in Qatar, where despite high expectations, Stojkovic’s men failed to make it past the group stage

Bulgaria will be without Dusan Vlahovic, who scored a brace in the last official match against Montenegro. The Juventus striker is again struggling with pubalgia and has not been called up. There are mixed feelings for the Bulgarian national team selector, Serbian Mladen Krstajic, who is still searching for his first victory in these qualifiers. No success so far for Bulgaria, a selection that over the past 30 years has failed to relive the glories of the 1994 World Cup, when it reached a historic semi-final. After two defeats in a row against Montenegro and Hungary (0-1 and 3-0) came a narrow draw with Lithuania (1-1), on paper the least competitive of the group.

The prediction

Serbia should be able to beat a struggling Bulgaria, who did not go beyond a draw even against a Lithuania that was outnumbered for almost the entire match. The total goals should be less than four.
