Arsenal-Leeds, Premier League: odds, predictions

by Michael

Arsenal-Leeds is a match valid for the twenty-ninth day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 4pm: TV, likely formations, predictions.

Saturday afternoon at lunchtime Liverpool will surely have an extra fan. Arsenal are interested spectators in the big match between Manchester City and the Reds that opens the curtain on the 29th day of the championship.

The Gunners will take the field a few hours later, already knowing the result of their rivals in the title race. Mikel Arteta’s side are currently eight points ahead of the defending champions, who still have a game to make up. A fortnight ago, in fact, while Arsenal crushed Crystal Palace 4-1 in the London derby, immediately lifting their spirits after their elimination from the Europa League through Sporting Portugal, Haaland and Guardiola’s Citizens were engaged in the FA Cup against Burnley, overwhelmed by a resounding 6-0. They now have one match to spare and could potentially be -5. Arsenal, however, continue to gallop along, almost as if they don’t feel the breath on their opponent’s necks.

The Emirates is a fortress

Against Leeds at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta will be hunting for his seventh consecutive league win: the Basque-born coach has never managed such a long winning streak since taking charge of the Gunners.

This is an Arsenal side that is also in a state of grace offensively: in the last four Premier League rounds they have never scored less than three goals. It was almost mission impossible for Leeds to take away points from the Emirates Stadium, a veritable fortress. The only team to conquer it was Manchester City, while only Newcastle and Brentford escaped unscathed. This is a big problem for the Whites, who have barely picked up nine points on the road so far. Before the break came the second victory for new coach Javi Gracia, who was able to go on to win 4-2 at Molineux against a direct competitor such as Wolverhampton. However, Leeds’ position, despite the success over Wolves, remains precarious: the relegation zone is still two points away.

The Prediction

Arsenal have rarely failed at home and are unlikely to lose any points on the road against a Leeds side struggling to keep their category. We imagine another round-robin success from the Gunners, who should score between two and four goals.

  • ARSENAL (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; White, Holding, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Xhaka, Partey; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Gabriel Jesus.
  • LEEDS (4-2-3-1): Meslier; Ayling, Koch, Struijk, Junior Firpo; McKennie, Roca; Harrison, Aaronson, Sinisterra; Bamford.
