Sassuolo v Cremonese, Serie A: streaming, odds, predictions

by Mark

Sassuolo-Cremonese is a Serie A Week 25 match played on Monday at 18:30: odds, predictions, TV and streaming

Cremonese relaunched their salvation ambitions in the last round by gaining their first win since returning to Serie A. A very long fast, broken only a week ago against José Mourinho’s Roma, beaten 2-1 thanks to goals from Tsadjout and Ciofani. And in the “grigiorosso” environment now the question is whether it is too late to catch up the fourth-last place and get back in the race to keep the category.

Yesterday, meanwhile, good news arrived for Davide Ballardini’s men from La Spezia: the direct clash between Leonardo Semplici’s Bianconeri and Verona ended in a scoreless draw. This means that the gap to the last position useful to avoid relegation is still closeable for the three teams that have been populating the red zone for months now. Cremonese are -9 from salvation, which is why they will have to get unblocked in an away match to continue at least to hope. With the new coach, the grigiorossi seem to have found the tranquillity that they had lacked under Alvini’s management, and the leap in quality in terms of grit and aggressiveness has been there. Beyond the exploits of the Coppa Italia – in April Cremonese will play a pass for a historic final with Fiorentina – for the first time in 2023 two useful results have arrived: an external draw in Turin and a home win against Roma.

Sassuolo have emerged from crisis

Two games in which the Lombardi have scored a total of four goals, not bad for a team with the second worst attack after Sampdoria.

Cremonese will be engaged in this post-match in Reggio Emilia against Sassuolo. Since mid-January, the Emilian team has started to pedal again, coming out of the crisis thanks to three victories in the last five days. A week ago the neroverdi returned to winning ways on the road, defeating Lecce (0-1) with a goal by Thorstvedt in the second half. The league table is now less scary, and with 27 points – just two less than the haul won a year ago after 24 rounds – Alessio Dionisi’s men can sleep more soundly and live this end of the season in serenity.

Sassuolo-Cremonese: the latest line-up news

Dionisi must do without his captain Berardi, who is disqualified. Bajrami and Laurienté will play in the attacking trident, along with one of Defrel and Pinamonti. Obiang and Maxime Lopez will be in the running, while Thorstvedt, who scored the decisive goal in Lecce, will play against Frattesi. The defence will consist of Zortea, Erlic, Tressoldi and Rogerio.

Ballardini will reintroduce the 3-4-3 that paid off against Roma. Pickel’s condition has improved in recent days, and he will play alongside Benassi in midfield as against the Giallorossi. In case of forfeit, Meité is ready. In attack there is space for Afena-Gyan, Tsadjout and Okereke. At the back there is Bianchetti in place of the disqualified Ferrari.

The prediction

Cremonese have no choice. They will need a more proactive attitude in the coming matches to try and play for everything. And it is no coincidence that in the last two rounds there has been no shortage of goals in the matches featuring the grigiorossi. It will probably be the same in the challenge at the Mapei Stadium: Sassuolo has more quality than the team coached by Ballardini and is in a good moment, but the opponents might have some more motivation, especially after having brought home the first success. A draw cannot be ruled out.
