Arsenal-Everton, Premier League: odds, predictions

Arsenal-Everton is a Premier League Week 7 replay and is played on Wednesday at 20:45: live TV, odds, predictions

In the week when the European cups take a break, two Premier League recoveries are played in England. One of them is far more important than the other and it is the one that takes place at the Emirates Stadium in London, where Everton will try to trip Arsenal for the second time in a month.

After the match with the Toffees, originally scheduled for last September – at the time it was postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth – the Gunners will finally catch up with Manchester City and have played the same number of games as their pursuers. For the time being, the defending champions are two points behind Arsenal but the gap could become five points should Mikel Arteta’s side win this rematch. It is a crucial match for the Londoners, but also for Sean Dyche’s men, who are currently third-bottom and in the fight for relegation. The ex-Burnley coach, who took over from the sacked Frank Lampard a month ago, made his debut with a 1-0 win over the Gunners at Goodison Park, with Tarkowski’s goal in the second half the deciding factor.

The Gunners dream of an extension

Everton have been alternating between wins and defeats since that game: having beaten Leeds in a direct clash, the Toffees bowed out at Aston Villa last Saturday, their second setback since the Liverpool derby two weeks earlier.

Arsenal, on the other hand, returned to winning two games in a row, putting an end to a three-game slump that had seen them lose to Everton and Manchester City and draw with Brentford. Having overcome the first real crisis moment of the season, the Gunners will try to stretch their lead over Pep Guardiola’s team, exploiting the enthusiasm of the double success against Aston Villa and Leicester. On the last day, it was Martinelli’s goal early in the second half that broke the Foxes’ resistance. A record in sight for Arteta, who could become the second coach in Arsenal’s history to reach quita 60 points in the first 25 league games.

The Prediction

Another tricky game looms for Arsenal, a real physical battle. This time, however, the Gunners should come out on top against an Everton side who have picked up just seven points and scored barely six goals away from Goodison Park. The Londoners’ goal could remain unbeaten.

Arsenal v Everton line-ups

  • ARSENAL (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Xhaka, Partey; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Trossard.
