Fulham-Leeds is a match in the round of 16 of the FA Cup and is played on Tuesday at 20:45: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.
One of the three domestic competitions has already gone down at the weekend in England. The League Cup, the English League Cup, ended up in the trophy cabinet of Manchester United, who returned to lift a trophy after six years of total fasting. The Red Devils won 2-0 over Newcastle, who were returning to play a final after two decades. Sixteen remained in the FA Cup, which is about to return with the round of 16.
One of the first challenges on the agenda is that between Fulham and Leeds, two Premier League teams both starting with the aim of keeping their category. Only the latter, however, are fulfilling their initial promises. Fulham, in fact, after 25 days of the championship is in the middle of the European zone, sixth in front of much more quoted (and expensive) teams such as Liverpool and Chelsea. Marco Silva’s Cottagers are the big surprise of the tournament and come from the 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton. Six useful results in a row for the Cottagers, including the two FA Cup matches against Sunderland. To defeat the Black Cats, a Championship club, Fulham needed a replay, having drawn 1-1 in the first encounter.
In the league it ended 3-2 to Fulham
There is no doubt that the Londoners’ primary objective is the league, but this could be a chance to make inroads in a competition in which the Cottagers have never done much, only reaching the very final back in the 1974-75 season.
In the Premier League this year they have already faced Leeds, beating them 3-2 at home last October, at the end of a match of many emotions. The Whites, after having exonerated Jesse Marsch, a few days ago made official the new coach, the Spaniard Javi Gracia, who immediately made his debut with a fundamental success. Bamford and his team-mates won Saturday’s delicate salvation clash with Southampton (1-0) felled by a goal from former Barcelona man Junior Firpo. This allowed Leeds to move up the table, taking them to +1 on third-last-placed Everton.
The Prediction
Between the two we prefer Fulham, not only because of what they are doing in the league. In the cup, however, other dynamics intervene. And the feeling is that it will also depend on the turnover of the two coaches, which will be substantial. It is shaping up to be a wide-open match, which, like last October’s, should see both teams score.
