Wednesday 22 February predictions: Champions League again

by Lea

Wednesday 22 February predictions: the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League closes tonight with Inter v Porto and Leipzig v Manchester City.

The first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League comes to a close this Wednesday with Inter v Porto and Leipzig v Manchester City. Simone Inzaghi’s team will try to go all the way in Europe’s top-flight competition as they take on ex-Sergio Conceicao, who has been a disappointment to Italian teams in recent matches.

Conceicao has in fact eliminated Roma, Juventus and AC Milan from this competition, despite always starting with his Porto side as underdogs. It will be up to Inter to try and live up to that prediction, starting with the crucial first leg, as the Portuguese’s performance is very different when they play in their own fortress, which is why a failure to win tonight would be a problem in the return leg.

Other match predictions

In the other evening game the goals should come on time as they did in previous games last season. Manchester City does not shine for continuity, but in the decisive matches they hardly make mistakes, as they proved recently against Arsenal. A victory for Guardiola’s team is very likely, but Leipzig should also be able to score in a match that could prove more complicated than expected.
