Tottenham-West Ham, Premier League: odds, predictions

by Martin

Tottenham-West Ham is a match valid for the 24th day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 17:30: TV, formations, predictions.

The victory over Manchester City a fortnight ago did not give Tottenham the momentum hoped for by Antonio Conte and the whole Spurs environment. The Londoners immediately went limp again: first the heavy defeat (4-1) at home to Leicester, who are in the relegation battle, then last Tuesday’s defeat in Milan against Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan, who came out on top 1-0 thanks to a Brahim Diaz’s strike.

Of course, at the San Siro the Salento coach had to do without the entire starting midfield, riddled with injuries and disqualifications, and it was unrealistic to expect to return to London with the full stake. The return leg is scheduled for March and Conte will have plenty of time to plan the comeback, as he would be out with a draw. The former Juventus and Inter coach, however, might not even be on the bench: he has to stop again due to gall bladder surgery and in the next matches his deputy Stellini will take his place. In the meantime, Conte or no Conte, Kane and his team-mates cannot afford any more setbacks: in front Newcastle give the impression of slowing down and this seems to be the right moment to try to attack the fourth place, currently occupied by the Magpies.

The Hammers after Saturday afternoon’s games found themselves third last in the table, also overtaken by Bournemouth and Everton. David Moyes knows he cannot play with fire and his men will travel to north London with a knife between their teeth after two consecutive draws with Newcastle and Chelsea. The Hammers are on the up but need points soon if they are to leave the dangerous areas of the table.

The Prediction

Both urgently need to get back to winning ways. West Ham may not deserve that bad ranking if we are talking about the quality of the squad, but they are disappointing in every respect, especially in terms of goals. It’s shaping up to be an open derby in any case, with at least one goal each.

The Tottenham-West Ham line-up probables

  • TOTTENHAM (3-4-3): Forster; Romero, Dier, Davies; Emerson Royal, Sarr, Hojbjerg, Perisic; Richarlison, Kane, Son.
  • WEST HAM (3-4-3): Fabianski; Kehrer, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Coufal, Rice, Soucek, Emerson Palmieri; Bowen, Antonio, Benrahma.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
