Real Madrid-Elche is a match on the 21st day of La Liga and is played on Wednesday at 21:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.
The fortunate Moroccan expedition will surely have lightened the load of tension accumulated by Real Madrid in the last month. Or at least that is Carlo Ancelotti’s hope. In the Club World Cup that has just ended, the Emilian coach and his men did not fail to live up to expectations, despite coming off a very complicated period.
And as predicted, they returned from Morocco with yet another title, further enriching the club’s trophy cabinet, which is already full of trophies. After the European Super Cup lifted last summer in Finland, the Merengues also got their hands on the other competition featuring the reigning European champions. There was no long-awaited challenge in the final against Gabigol’s Flamengo, but the Saudis of Al-Hilal still gave them a hard time, piercing Lunin’s goal three times: it ended 5-3 but with Real always in control, despite a few too many defensive inattentions. However, there is no time to wallow in celebration. For the Blancos, there are two close league games coming up – the first is the rematch against bottom-of-the-table Elche – before the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Liverpool next week.
Meanwhile, Barcelona continue to win. It did it again last weekend on the pitch of Villarreal, while Real were engaged in the World Cup, bringing the gap on second place to +11.
There is therefore no alternative to victory for Benzema and his team-mates, with the national title seemingly already on its way to Catalonia. Theoretically, the match against the green-and-whites would be a foregone conclusion, as Pablo Machin’s side are already in the Segunda after collecting nine points in 20 matches. But it would be a mistake to take the task lightly, as Elche have just won their first victory, beating Villarreal by surprise (3-1). Not to be trusted.
The prediction
There shouldn’t be any big surprises in this tie between Real Madrid, newly crowned world champions, and the worst team in La Liga, last in the table and with 40 goals conceded. In Morocco, the Merengues found the goals again and in all probability they will score at least three against Elche as well.
