Fiorentina came close to victory in Rome against Lazio, one of their black beasts, convincing more than Sarri’s team from the point of view of the game and the occasions created. A great goal from the rediscovered Gonzalez allowed Italiano to retake the Biancocelesti and break the negative series.

A point also for Ivan Juric’s Toro, who managed to come back in the final stages against Empoli (2-2), leading by two goals with twenty minutes to go. For the granata a draw that keeps them in eighth place, +3 ahead of the Viola, beaten not even a fortnight ago at the ‘Franchi’.

A historic victory for Torino, who hadn’t violated the stadium of the Tuscan capital for over 40 years. Former Atalanta man Miranchuk’s goal was decisive (0-1) in a first half in which Rodriguez and his team-mates were able to defuse Fiorentina by focusing mainly on quick restarts, a thorn in the side for the always tall Italian defence. Torino will try to do another feat, along the lines of the one achieved in the round of 16 with the victory at San Siro against AC Milan in extra time, despite being numerically inferior. Fiorentina, on the other hand, beat Sampdoria 1-0 in the previous round. A result that could have been wider, but the Viola kept the game open until the very end due to a lack of prolificacy.
In the granata attack there is a ballot between Sanabria and Seck. On the other hand, Italiano decided not to call Amrabat, after the rumours of the last market day that saw the Moroccan midfielder very close to Barcelona.
