Union Berlin were perhaps the team most in need of a breather before the World Cup break. The double league-Europa League commitment had put Urs Fischer’s men, the big surprise of the first part of the season, to the test.

Union who, in any case, will have to reckon with Werder Bremen’s desire for redemption, just back from a memorable blow against the far from irresistible Cologne. The green-and-white formation seemed to be the distant relative of the one they had admired in the first months of the championship, capable as a newly-promoted team of positioning themselves close to the European zone. We assume a reaction from Werner’s men, but Union Berlin, having put their troubles behind them, seem to be in a position to take another win after their convincing one against Hoffenheim.
