Brescia-Palermo is a Serie B Week 19 match to be played on Monday at 12:30: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.
The Serie B like the Premier League. In the sense that, with Serie A still “on holiday”, in the Serie B all the matches of the nineteenth day – which would be the first of the second half of the season – are played on Boxing Day, what the English call Boxing Day, a tradition that the English have practically always respected.
The first match on the schedule is between Brescia and Palermo. The points of interest offered by this match are not limited to the return of Eugenio Corini – now coach of the Rosanero team – to the ‘Rigamonti’, the stadium that saw him take his first steps as a footballer and where he has coached on several occasions over the last four years. The Rondinelle, in fact, have just changed technical guide, replacing Pep Clotet, to whom the defeat in Pisa (3-0), the third in four matches, was fatal, with Alfredo Aglietti. President Massimo Cellino chose the 52-year-old coach from San Giovanni Valdano – fresh from an unhappy experience with Reggina – to shake up a group that apparently no longer knows how to win.
After a very positive start, which had allowed them to reach the playoff zone, Brescia have won only one match since October. And now it is finished outside the top eight. In December, the only point came against the penultimate team in the standings, Cosenza. Palermo, on the other hand, were in a diametrically opposite mood, having found a minimum of continuity in the last month, and on Sunday they obtained their fourth useful result in a row, winning the derby of the islands against Cagliari, beaten 2-1 at the ‘Barbera’.
Brescia-Palermo: the latest line-up news
An emergency for Aglietti, who will have to do without the disqualified Adorni and Karacic in defence: in their place the new coach should choose Jallow and Mangraviti. And there is no end to the problems in the backline, where Cistana will also be missing. The former Chievo and Reggina coach will re-propose the 4-3-1-2 at the moment, with Galazzi in the three-quarter
On the other hand, Corini’s doubts concern the presence of Sala in midfield, who left early during the last training session. Bettella and Gomes are also in doubt.
The prediction
The change in the bench should at least serve to put an end to the haemorrhaging of defeats at home to Brescia. The Lombardi, now led by Aglietti, are likely to take at least a point against a Palermo side who appear to be on the upswing, who are back in the playoffs and are likely to score at least one goal. A draw cannot be ruled out.
