Celtic-St. Johnstone, Premiership: TV, streaming, line-ups, predictions

by Michael

Celtic-St. Johnstone is a match valid for the eighteenth day of the Premiership and is played on Saturday at 13:30: likely formations, predictions, TV and streaming.

After seventeen matches, Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic remain firmly at the top of the Premiership table. A good nine points behind city rivals Rangers, but if this trend continues, the Hoops should have no problem getting their hands on title number 53, repeating last year’s triumph.

The green-and-whites’ numbers at home are truly impressive: sixteen wins in seventeen matches, the only defeat coming last September at home to St. Mirren. The only blemish in a journey in which the reigning Scottish champions have hardly hit any snags. Not even the World Cup break rusted Hart and his team-mates, who had lost all three friendlies played during the break, against Sidney FC, Everton and Rennes. When things got serious again, there was none for anyone. Last Saturday, Celtic got the better of Aberdeen 1-0, and in the midweek round – recovery of the seventh day – they did not fail against a good Livingston, beaten 2-1. There was therefore an immediate response to Rangers, who twenty-four hours earlier had disposed of Aberdeen at the end of a sensational 2-3.

The objective, now, is to keep the attention threshold high, the only commitment being to win the championship: Celtic, in fact, are out of the European cups after their elimination in the Champions League group stage. Next opponent for the Hoops is St. Johnstone, fifth in the standings and unbeaten for six rounds.

The Prediction

Since being appointed Celtic coach in 2021, Ange Postecoglou has never lost a home match in the Premiership. St. Johnstone are in good form and will undoubtedly create some headaches for the green-and-whites but are unlikely to avoid defeat in a game of at least three goals overall.

Celtic v St. Johnstone likely line-ups

  • CELTIC (4-3-3): Hart; Taylor, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Bernabei; McGregor, O’Riley, Hatate; Abada, Jota, Furuhashi.
  • ST. JOHNSTONE (3-5-2): Parish; Brown, Gordon, Considine; McLennan, Wotherspoon, Phillips, Carey, Wright; May, Clark.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
