Modena v Venice, Serie B: streaming, odds, predictions

by Mark

Modena-Venezia is a Serie B Week 16 match to be played on Thursday at 15:00: odds, predictions, live TV and streaming.

After the difficult period of “acclimatisation” – if we want to call it that – in the new category, the newly-promoted Modena are starting to take some satisfaction. Under the expert guidance of the experienced coach Attilio Tesser, one of the main architects of the long-awaited return to the cadetteria after the painful bankruptcy and the forced restart from the amateurs, the Canarini have already reached 20 points, are close to the playoff zone and are coming from two victories in a row, obtained in the two consecutive derbies of Emilia against Parma and Spal. Last Sunday’s match in Ferrara was a real show of strength: despite playing with a man down from 35 minutes due to the expulsion of striker Diaw, the Gialloblù violated the ‘Mazza’ with a resounding 2-3, repeating the feat achieved seven days earlier at the ‘Tardini’ against Fabio Pecchia’s Ducali. The next matches will probably tell if Modena are able to aspire to something more than just salvation, starting with the home match against Venezia.

The lagunari are also back from two victories, having got off to a great start after the break. The successes against Palermo and Ternana, beaten 0-1 and 2-1 respectively, certify the excellent work of Paolo Vanoli, who took over from the exonerated Ivan Javorcic. Six points that have pulled the arancioneroverdi out of trouble: Venezia remain penultimate but on the right side the classification is very short and another success could be enough to leave the red zone.

Modena-Venezia: the latest line-up news

Pohjanpalo's exultation

Pohjanpalo’s exultation

Modena’s attack will be without the disqualified Diaw, sent off against Spal. It will therefore be Falcinelli’s turn to flank Bonfanti. Space also for Tremolada, who will act on the three-quarter. Former Milan player Poli is confirmed in the middle, while in defence Coppolaro will replace Oukhadda. On the other side, Vanoli will opt for the 3-5-2: up front the former Parma and Fiorentina player will put his faith in the all-Scandina duo of Johnsen and Pohjanpalo. On the right flank Candela will be back, with Zampano having ‘moved’ to the left.

The Prediction

In this match two healthy teams face each other, who are recovering after a limp start. In short, there seems to be a good chance that they will both score. Venezia have a good away record, scoring 11 of their 15 points, and it cannot be ruled out that they will avoid defeat this time.

The probable line-ups for Modena v Venice

  • MODENA (4-3-1-2): Gagno; Coppolaro, Silvestri, Pergreffi, Renzetti; Armellino, Gerli, Poli; Tremolada; Falcinelli, Bonfanti.
  • VENEZIA (3-5-2): Bertinato; Wiśniewski, Ceppitelli, Ceccaroni; Candela, Črnigoj, Tessmann, Andersen, Zampano; Johnsen, Pohjanpalo.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-2
