Europa League, today, Thursday 3 November, it’s on to the pitch for the last round of the group stage. Here are the combinations for the final 90 minutes
Last day of the Europa League. The final ninety minutes to know their fate. A destiny that four teams already know, certain of first place and therefore certain of going directly to the round of 16 without passing through any play-offs: these are Betis (in Roma’s group), Royale Union SG, Freiburg and Ferencvaros. Tonight, these teams will only play for glory.
Then there are other teams who are sure to have made it through the round but also still have to decide their position in the standings. And this position, which changes so much, will be contested by Arsenal and Psv, Fenerbahce and Rennes and finally Real Sociedad and Manchester United. The last two in a real direct clash to be played in Spain.
Finally, to close the first circle, there is everything to be decided in one group, that of Lazio. With ninety minutes to go, in fact, Sarri’s team can pass the round as first, as second, can finish in the Conference League as third and even finish fourth and be eliminated altogether. Obviously all this together with Sturm Graz, Feyenoord, Midtjylland, the other teams in this grouping.

Then there are teams who do not yet know which event they will have to play, but they are certain that they will play in Europe. Roma, for example, who host Ludogorets at the Stadio Olimpico tonight, could finish either second or third. The same goes for Union Berlin, Braga, Qarabağ, Nantes, Monaco, Trabzonspor and Red Star. The last three of this group – those in bold – may well finish fourth.
In all this there is also one team that cannot change its position, namely AEK Larnaca, who are currently third and will remain third no matter what happens in the final ninety minutes.
Dynamo Kyiv, HJK Helsinki, Malmö and Olympiacos are already eliminated and cannot go anywhere, fourth position in the standings assured. Finally for Bodø/Glimt, Zürich, Sheriff, Omonia Nicosia there is a chance to enter the Conference League but no chance to go forward in the Europa League. In this case then the last ninety minutes are really decisive.
