Union Berlin-Braga is a match for the fifth day of the Europa League group stage: Football scores, where to watch it on TV and streaming
UNION BERLIN – BRAGA | Thursday 6.45pm
Match point for Union Berlin, still leaders in the Bundesliga despite last weekend’s defeat to last-place Bochum. The Germans – who now only have a one-point lead over Bayern Munich at home – against Braga have the chance to close the qualification discourse. At least the one that is worth second place. A draw might even be enough, especially if Royale Union SG were to win, as predicted, against Malmo. So they could go into the last game of the round against a team sure of first place. But these are calculations that the Berliners do not want to make, quite the contrary. They want to put a decidedly unexpected defeat in the league behind them. A reaction is needed, and the occasion really does come at the right time.
Braga is certainly a hard nut to crack and proved it in the match played last 15 September at home when the Portuguese beat the Germans one-nil. But away, in general, things are not going so well. So here is where Union Berlin really has an important chance, to take the three points and to secure qualification to the next stage. And there will almost certainly also be a play-off with a team that will be relegated from the Champions League. But that’s another matter.
The Prediction
In a match that should yield at least three goals in total unlike the first leg, a Union Berlin victory seems possible, indeed probable. The Germans would thus secure qualification.
